Future-oriented Kirsten decided about four weeks ago that, if her family and friends express any desire to give her a gift for Christmas or her birthday, perhaps what she should request is cash to help with a somewhat financially daring plan she has in mind for next summer.
Present-oriented Kirsten wants these boots, or something like them. In fact, she can't wait for Christmas. She wants them now and doesn't see how she's going to make it through winter without something like them.
Future-oriented Kirsten reminds Present-oriented Kirsten that she already has a pair of much-loved boots and thinks she should wear those.
What will prove weightier: the future or the present?
